"Opening the minds and touching the
hearts of all students, in a safe and caring environment" is the mission
statement of Olmstead Elementary and Middle School. Our school is
set among the rolling fields of south Logan County. It has long been a
center for education with the first county school approved in 1913.
Staffing consists of principal,
guidance counselor/assistant principal, thirty-two (32) certified
teachers and twenty-five (25) classified support staff. Student
teacher ratio of fifteen (15) to one (1) allows for the optimum
in individual instruction.
Full day kindergarten daily
instruction along with the alternating full day preschool instruction
provides maximum early childhood development. The Olmstead Family Youth
Resource Service Center supplies additional support to students, family
and community.
Daily instruction is from 7:30 A.M.
until 2:55 P.M., Monday through Thursday, allowing instructional
time from 7:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Friday. Our instructional
year is based on an alternative calendar that features a nine week
instructional period, one week intercession period and one week
break rotation.
